The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly set to announce the reappointment of Otto Addo as Black Stars' new manager on Friday, March 15, 2024.

Multiple reports in the local media suggest that the GFA has handed the German-based trainer a long-term contract to lead Ghana's new project.

The vacancy arose after Chris Hughton’s disappointing tenure as coach of Ghana came to an end on January 23, 2024, with the GFA announcing his sacking along with the disbandment of his technical team.

The decision was expected, given the team’s poor performance at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations, where they were eliminated in the first round with Ivory Coast emerging as the winner.

If reappointed, Otto Addo will replace Chris Hughton who he worked with closely during his short first spell. Hughton served as a technical advisor before assuming the head coach role after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Otto Addo's first assignment, if appointed, will be against Uganda and Nigeria in an international friendly in Morocco in March 2024.

Otto, who began his coaching career in 2010, doesn’t boast of an impressive resume as expected by the FA, with Ghana being the only top position he has occupied in the past.

He started at Hamburger SV U19 and was assistant coach at Nordsjaelland. The former Ghana international is currently a talent coach at Dortmund.

Otto Addo in his first stint played 12 matches and recorded four wins, four draws and four defeats.

Meanwhile, over 50 coaches applied for the vacant role after Chris Hughton was shown the exit.
