Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Awudu Nafiu says the club main goal is to win the Ghana Premier League next season but admitted it won't be easy.

The defender, who joined Kotoko from Ashantigold last season, insists the club wants to make a mark in Africa, following their qualification for the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors were paired with Congolese side Club Athletique de Renaissance Aiglon in the preliminary rounds.

However, Nafiu who expects a better 2017/18 season with the club indicated, domestically they want to win the league and also make a mark in Africa.

“I am not going anywhere as being speculated, I have a contract with Kotoko and I‘m staying,” Nafiu told footballmadeinghana.com

“We are having pre-season and everything is going well. We hope to get a good start in the confederations cup and take it from there,”

“Our aim domestically is to also win the league as it has been long since we won it. Is not going to be easy at all spheres but with hard work we can make it,” he added.

The Kumasi based club beat Coners FC in a friendly on Saturday as part of preparations for the upcoming season.

However, they face fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday in the return leg of the Ghana @60 Cup match. A tie the Phoians lead 3-1.
