Owusu Bempah named worst defender in the Premier league

Former Hearts of Oak captain, Joseph Owusu Bempah has declared that being voted as the worst defender of the just ended Ghana Premier League in Happy FM’s version of the Bidone D’oro will spur him on to comeback stronger next season.

The former Black Satellite captain struggled for game time last season due to persistence injuries, which prompted Hearts of Oak to act against renewing his contact in the off season.

And after he was announced as the winner of the Golden Bin (Bidone D’oro), Owusu Bempah says work is in progress to recapture his previous form and thanked Happy FM for pioneering such idea.

“It’s not every day that you’ll have what you seek for as human being. My dip in form last season was because of a repeated injury I was fighting, but by God’s grace I’m feeling fit and raring to go.”

“When coach Kenichi was at the helm of the team, I was doing good up until I sustained the injury, which disrupted my whole season. However, I wouldn’t want to dwell on what went wrong last season too much. I want to focus on what’s ahead of me because I’m a free player now and I have started discussions with some clubs in country and abroad.”

“I’ll accept this award, but I’ll make sure I come back stronger not be named in this award again if it happens that I remain in the league next season.”
