Nafiu, who joined the Porcupine Warriors as a free agent last year, has replaced Amos Frimpong who has been stripped off his captaincy duties at the club for reasons yet to be disclosed.

However, goalkeeper Felix Annan is said to have been handed deputy captaincy position.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin signed a one-year contract to become the new manager following the sacking of Steve Pollack.

The former Berekum Chelsea trainer led the Reds to win the MTN FA Cup against their archrivals Hearts of Oak but was shown the exit door after failing to qualify the team to the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Asante Kotoko suffered a first-round exit at the hands of CARA Brazzaville of Congo.
