Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is considering switching his national team to the Ivory Coast - despite already playing twice for England.
According toThe Sun,Zaha fears that he has fallen down the Englandpecking order and is seriously thinking about accepting the offer to play for Ivory Coast, the country of his birth.
The Palace star has been asked repeatedly to switch allegiance by the Elephants, who have Eric Bailly of Manchester United and Wilfried Bony of Stoke City in their ranks.
Zaha, if he makes the switch, could even feature in the African Cup of Nations in Gabon in January.
The 23-year-old made his England debut against Sweden in a 2012 friendly, before playing again in another friendly against Scotland a year later.
He also played 13 times for England under-21s, but because he has not played competitively for the Three Lions, he still qualifies to play for Ivory Coast.
With World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Spainapproaching for England, Gareth Southgate is set to name his next squad on Sunday.
Palace boss Alan Pardew claims that Southgate is still monitoring Zaha, after admitting that he has been in contact with the England interim boss.
Pardew said toThe Sun: Obviously I know Gareth well, so we have had conversations about players and Wilf has come up, yes.
The quality of the England team is such that it's difficult to break into that starting eleven, but Andros is pretty close, and I think Wilf Zaha is close as well.
I think Zaha is playing some of his best football since he came back to the football club.
