Parkinson hails Pukki quality

Bolton Wanderers head coach Phil Parkinson believes table-toppers Norwich City have the best striker in the Championship in the shape of the in-form Teemu Pukki.

Pukki netted twice on Saturday as the Canaries swept to a 4-0 victory at the home of the Trotters, with the three points taking City back to the Championship summit, two points ahead of Sheffield United and Leeds United.

He is the best in the division.

And Parkinson was in no doubt about the quality of both Pukki and the rest of the Norwich side.

He told reporters: "When you have a goalscorer of that quality you have got a great chance. He is the best in the division.

"We got beat by a very good side. They were right at the top of their game, but we can do much better.

"Some of their goals and approach play were of Premier League calibre, not top of the Championship."

Former Brondby frontman Pukki has scored 23 goals in 30 Championship appearances so far this season and has found the net on each of his last six outings.

A delighted City head coach Daniel Farke added of his star performer: "It was a sign today of why Teemu is so important.

"Of course his goals were crucial, but also how he works for the team in terms of pressing and how he assisted for the second goal was for me a world-class assist."

Norwich are back in action next Saturday when they play host to Bristol City, with the Canaries 19/20 to win the game at Carrow Road and 23/10 to have to settle for a draw.
