Ghana striker Patrick Twumasi is on the verge of joining French Ligue 1 side Stade Malherbe Caen.

According to reports, the club are close to agreeing a €1 million deal with Kazakhstan champions FC Astana for the player.

SM Caen, who were heavily linked with a move for Majeed Waris before the Lorient forward snubbed them for Portuguese giants FC Porto, have shifted their focus on Patrick Twumasi as they look to augment their attacking line before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday.

The Stade Michel d’Ornano outfit have made strides in their negotiation with the 23-year-old's side Astana FC, and information reaching Ghana's leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com suggest that the Norman Club have agreed a €1 million deal for the player’s services but the Ghanaian is yet to agree personal terms with the club.

Twumasi is reported to be on the radar of FC Lorient as a replacement for the departed Majeed Waris but it looks Caen have stolen a match on the French Ligue 2 outfit.

Twumasi scored 22 goals for Astana as they retained their Kazakh league title.
