Pep Guardiola Insists Manchester City 'Did Everything' to Win in 1-1 Draw With Middlesbrough

Pep Guardiola has said that his Manchester City side 'did everything' to beat Middlesbrough, but in the end were stung with a late equaliser from Marten de Roon to deny them all three points.

The City boss added that Boro didn't create 'absolutely anything', insisting his side 'have to learn' to put the game to bed when they have the chances.

Sergio Aguero scored his 150th Premier League goal to put City into a deserved lead before half-time. But the home side missed a host of opportunities, and a 91st minute header from De Roon ensured that Aitor Karanka's side would take home a share of the points.

"It's part of the game," Guardiola toldSky Sports. "We did everything, just like against Everton, but in the last minute with a cross they score. It's part of football, and we have to learn from that.

"We made absolutely everything. We created six or seven clear, clear chances. In the end, we didn't score, and that's why at the end in the Premier League that can happen. Just one cross, and it can happen.

"Opponents can play where they want, we have to find another way to solve that situation. But we made absolutely everything. In the end, OK, we miss our chances, they don't do absolutely anything, or a few things, and after one or two chances they score, and we have to learn about that for the future."

The draw against Middlesbrough means that City have only managed one victory in their last five Premier League games, but Guardiola still praised his team's performance today.

"With it at 1-0, you want more control, you want to defend, and we played a really good game. They had two chances, one was saved by Claudio in the beginning of the second half and then in the last minute.

"We have to accept that. The end result we analyse, we have to accept that, and we analyse how many things we did well."
