Pep Guardiola Wants His Manchester City Team to Aim for 3 Points When They Travel to the Nou Camp

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes his team must seek to take points off of Barcelona in the Champions League group stage, insisting they should aim for maximum points at the Nou Camp this week.

Guardiola heads back to Barcelona this weekhaving spent four successful years with the Catalan giants where he won Europe's top prize twice with the club.

Now at City, he faces the daunting prospect of being the away side at the Nou Camp and having previous experienced how tough it can be with Bayern Munich, he must find a way to stop the Barcelona front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

Speaking toSky Sportsahead of the match, Guardiola insists his side should be looking for more than just survival.

He said:"I have never thought about the next game thinking a draw would be a good result.

"Of course it is complicated. No win in Glasgow means we have to take points off Barcelona there or here [at the Etihad], and especially in Germany [against Borussia Monchengladbach] as well.

"We have four games left, we have to win two. We have to make six points to be in the next step.We are going to try to win the first points in the next game. That is sure."

The fixture will be the first time this season that City head into a match as underdogs. Winning their first six league games has made the Citizens favourites for the title, but a win-less run of three matches in all competitions has somewhat lowered the expectations on Guardiola's team.

When asked if a draw in Barcelona would still be a positiveresult, the City boss appeared to backtrack on his previous bold claim that three points were his desired outcome.

Guardiola added: "I don't know. It depends on the game. When you play like Saturday [a 1-1 draw with Everton]then it is not a good result. But, if Barcelona play much better than us, maybe it is a good result."
