Ghanaian international, Solomon Asante is set to battle for the United Soccer League (USL) Most Valuable Player of the Season award after being nominated among three other players.
The pacey attacker has been the orchestra of his team’s outstanding performance that has seen them go on a 12-game winning streak while propelling them to the summit of the league standings.
His mind-blowing performance week after week is a testament to why he is currently sitting tied on top of the Golden Boot race with Rios on 15 goals. Asante is however slightly above his closest competitor as he leads the log of assists providers with 11.
In addition to that, statistics in the USL has shown that the Ghanaian winger also boasts of better accuracy with his shooting, placing 62 percent of his efforts on target compared to Rios’ 44 percent.
The Phoenix Rising captain is in strong contention for the top award and will become only the second player in the league’s history to become Golden Boot and assists Champions in the same year after Kevin Molino in 2014.
Still, a long way to go in the USL but Solomon Asante has a better chance of emerging as the USL player of the year if he manages to top up his stats in subsequent matches.
