PHOTO: Borussia Dortmund Ace Forced to Wear Casual Clothes at CAF Awards After Losing Luggage

With the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations just around the corner, the world's best African stars have descended on the continent to attempt to claim the international trophy for their respective countries of birth.


Ahead of that tournament kicking off, however, there was the small matter of attending the CAF Awards in Abuja, Nigeria, on Thursday evening. The glitzy awards ceremony requires nominees to dress up in their best attire, with players turning up in casual clothing no doubt frowned upon.


Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, though, turned up at the black-tie event minus his tux and failing to dress to the nines. Why? Well, to put it bluntly, the striker lost his luggage on his flight from Germany:

The 27-year-old opted to see the funny side of things, and attended the bash anyway - in the clothes he had worn for the flight to Nigeria:

Thankfully (is thankfully the right word?) Aubameyang finished runner-up to Riyad Mahrez in the 2016 Player of the Year award. Which is just as well, as those photographs would have been awkward as hell if he'd won...
