However, this wasn't the worst of injuries on the night as the bottom of the league Osasuna suffered further setbacks to their La Liga survival with Spanish central defender Tano Bonnin breaking his leg in two places after a clash with Isco.

Bonnin who has been at Osasuna since 2015 has appeared for the club 41 one times and was a regular member ofPetar Vasiljević squad. However, following his horrific leg injury the Dominican Republic international will now be available for the rest of the season as his career hangs in the balance.

Isco has revealed that he called the Osasuna defender apologising for the injury and wished him a speedy recovery in a tweet he posted following the match.

Mucho ánimo a Tano , espero que tenga una buena recuperación, te mando un abrazo fuerte compañero

Translated Isco's tweet reads: "Much encouragement to Tano, I hope you have a good recovery, I send you a big hug partner.

While Bonnin's injury shocked everyone in the stadium and on television as is seemed like a regular coming together of two players, the 26-year-old had to have pins to secure his tibula and fibula together in surgery.
