PHOTOS: Black Stars pre-AFCON training kicks off in Doha with first training

The Black Stars over the weekend officially commenced training in Doha, Qatar, ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Ghana national team is in Qatar for a period of three weeks to prepare for the AFCON scheduled to start in Cameroon next month.

In an update from the Ghana FA, it has said a first training session has been held in Doha.

“Currently two goalkeepers and seven outfield players are training at the Aspire Academy grounds in Doha. They include Richard Atta, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Alexander Djiku, Mubarak Wakaso, David Abagna, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, Gideon Mensah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Maxwell Abbey Quaye,” the GFA said in a statement on Monday.

The first training was held indoors on Sunday, December 26, before stepping on to the pitch on Monday for field work at the Aspire Stadium in Doha.

Meanwhile, the likes of Jonathan Mensah, Joseph Paintsil, and Richmond Boakye Yiadom are expected to join the team Monday evening.
