Asante Kotoko have named former player and deputy coach of WAFA, Patron Akakpo to fill the vacant role of Assistant coach.

"Akakpo penned a two-year contract with the FA cup champions and is expected to assist Polack in achieving set targets for Kotoko," a club statement read.

The club further expressed delight over Akakpo's return to the club in a technical capacity; a phenomenon that's not strange to the club's culture of engaging it's former players with key competencies at various managerial and technical positions.

The new Assistant joins after playing an enormous role in WAFA's impressive run in the Ghana Premier League campaign last season, assisting them to finish second. He's expected to bring his quality to bear on Kotoko's team building effort and performance in the coming season.
