Pictures: Black Galaxies first training in Algeria ahead of CHAN 2022

Black Galaxies held their first training today in Algeria ahead of the CHAN 2022 and friendlies against Algeria's local national team and Mozambique.

The Black Galaxies landed in Algiers on Tuesday to continue preparations for the 2022 TotalEnergies Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

The team has been camping in Egypt since December 24 and played two friendlies against Egypt’s Under 20 and Al Ahly FC.

Black Galaxies are scheduled to take on the tournament hosts in a friendly match at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on Saturday, January 7.

The home based senior national team will then play against Mozambique on January 10 before taking on Madagascar in Ghana's opening group match on January 15, 2023.

The Ghanaian delegation will be in based in Algiers where they will be holding training sessions before moving to Constantine where they will be playing their group stage games.

After competing in the tournament in Cote D'Ivoire, Sudan, and South Africa in 2009, 2011, and 2014, respectively, Ghana will be making a record-breaking fourth CHAN participation.

Group C contains the Black Galaxies along with Madagascar, Sudan, and Morocco. Ghana's squad for the CHAN tournament is captained by Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako.
