The home-based players invited to the camp of the Black Stars have stepped up training as preparations continue for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches next month.

Ghana in March will resume the matches in the qualifiers to the 2022 AFCON tournament scheduled to be staged in Cameroon.

Having reported to camp on Monday and Tuesday, 26 home-based players continue to train under head coach CK Akonnor.

Training is expected to continue intensifying as the week progress but players will rejoin their clubs on Friday ahead of matchday 15 of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

Meanwhile, the six Asante Kotoko players excused from this week’s training will report to the camp of the Black Stars once they return from the trip to Algeria this weekend.

The players are training with the team ahead of the second leg meeting with ES Setif in the final playoff round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
