In the run-up to the finals today, the former West Africa Football Academy poster boy impressed his technical handlers in training to ensure he earned a starting role.

Following a very positive start to the match which was played at the Worthersee Stadion, Red Bull Salzburg took the lead on the 19th minute through Dominik Szoboszlai.

Two minutes later, pressure on the defense of Austria Lustenau forced Dominik Stumberger to score an own goal.

Leading by 2 goals to nil at halftime, Red Bull returned from the break to score 3 additional goals.

Ghana’s Majeed Ashimeru scored with a fine effort to sandwich equalizers from Noah Okafor and Sekou Koita.

Despite efforts from the losers to get a consolation, they could not find the back of the net and had to succumb to a disappointing 5-0 defeat at the end of the 90 minutes.

Majeed Ashimeru and his teammates have now been crowned champions of the 2020 Austria OFB Cup and will hope to continue the same form in the Austria league when it resumes in June.
