Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Reiterates Desire to Join Real Madrid in the Future

Published on: 07 December 2016

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has once again reiterated his desire to join Real Madrid at some point in the future, although he remains committed to current club Borussia Dortmund for the time being.

Since the Aubameyang first spoke of a promise he made to his grandfather, the Gabonese has been asked about it several times and his answer has not changed.

"Yes [I still want to play for Real], it's a promise I made to my grandfather," he told the beIN Sports cameras after facing Los Blancos in Madrid in the final round of Champions League group fixtures.

"Right now I feel very good at Dortmund but in the future we'll see," he added.

Aubameyang scored in the game at the Bernabeu to half the two-goal advantage given to Real by Karim Benzema, before Marco Reus ensured the points were shared and Dortmund took top spot in the group and a seeded place in the knockout draw.

For Aubameyang it was a second goal against his dream club after finding the net in the reverse fixture at Westfalenstadion in September - another game that finished 2-2.

Dortmund can now face Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Manchester City, Porto or Sevilla over two legs in the last 16 and will learn their fate when the draw is made on Monday at UEFA headquarters.

Real will meet either Arsenal, Napoli, Monaco, Leicester or Juventus as they continue their bid to become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League title in the modern era - and the first to retain the European crown since Milan in 1990.
