Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Reportedly Reiterates Desire to Join Real Madrid

Published on: 29 August 2016

Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly informed the Bundesliga club of his desire to join Real Madrid in the future when the time comes to leave the Signal Iduna Park.

Aubameyang has spoken about Real in the past, recounting a promise he made to his grandfather, and this latest incarnation of the story comes from Marca.

The Spanish sports daily notes that "negotiations are yet to advance to a serious stage", but still ratheroptimistically suggests there might be a chance of a deal being struck before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

That, in reality, is highly unlikely. For a potential deal of such magnitude that is only in its infancy, even a couple of week or more wouldn't necessarily be enough time to arrange all of the various minor details that are inextricably linked to such high profile transfers.

Combined with the fact that Dortmund would have little to no time to identify and bring in a suitable replacement, and the player himself criticising speculation of a move this summer already, Aubameyang won't be a Real Madrid player before the end of the month.

That being said, the revelation in itself that he is allegedly still making Dortmund aware that Los Blancos the Bernabeu is part of his future plans is an interesting one.

Aubameyang will look to cement himself as one of the very top strikers in Europe this season having seen an increase in his annual goal tallies every year since moving to Germany from Saint-Etienne.

The Gabonese international scored a relatively 16 in his debut campaign for Dortmund, but then took that to 25 in 2014/15, before plundering 39 in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel last season. The 27-year-old has already scored twice in just one Bundesliga appearance so far this season.
