German magazine Kicker presented the poll in which players had to vote for the best outfield player of the 'Hinrunde', which is the first half of the Bundesliga season. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang's former teammate, was voted the best player of the 'Ruckrunde' - the second half of the term - last season.

RB Leipzig midfielder Emil Forsberg came in at second with 23.1 per cent of the vote, while Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski placed third with 14.3 per cent.

Manuel Neuer was voted the top goalkeeper in the division for the period.

Former Wolfsburg attacker Julian Draxler was voted the most disappointing player so far. The German's performances dipped considerably this season, but having sealed a recent switch to French giants Paris Saint-Germain, things could pick up again.

Draxler was voted most disappointing by 51.3 per cent of the voters, while Bayern's Thomas Muller came in second with 5.5 percent.

Muller has only scored one goal for the Bavarians this season under new boss Carlo Ancelotti, continuing his poor run of form from the Euros.

The players also voted Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola the best manager in the world. Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp was voted second best, with Diego Simeone, Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte following.
