Ghana’s first pitch invader in the history of football, Sulemana Awal has finally met his idol Thomas Partey following his release from prison a couple of days ago.
Awal, 25, found his way onto the pitch of the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday, November 14, 2019, when the Black Stars of Ghana hosted the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the opening Group C match of the qualifiers.
Following his arrest on grounds of unlawful entry and disturbing public peace, the invader explained that he entered the pitch to take a picture of his football idol Thomas Partey.
After being detained in cells for two nights, he was subsequently freed.
After the return of the Black Stars from their match against Sao Tome and Principe on Monday, Thomas Partey has honoured Sulemana Awal’s dream and has taken a picture with him.
In addition to that, the Atletico Madrid star man has gifted his iconic number 5 Black Stars jersey to Awal.
