Premier League Fantasy Football: Who's Hot and Who's Not in Gameweek 9

Published on: 20 October 2016

Time to get your teams set for the weekend folks, fantasy football is back with the continuation of the Premier League this weekend.

Struggling with injuries or are your players out of form? Here are a few alternatives...

Goalkeepers

Who's Hot

Petr Cech

Arsenal offered up two goals to Swansea to frustrate fantasy managers last weekend butthey should record a clean sheet against a Boro side who have scored justseven Premier Leaguegoals in eight games so far this season.

Heurelho Gomes

A bold shout, but Gomes and his defence were solid in their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough last week, and could escape with a clean sheet away at Swansea, who will still beadapting to new manager Bob Bradley.

Who's Not

Ben Foster

Despite producing aheroic display last week, West Brom could be on the end of a hiding from a Liverpool side who were frustrated by Manchester United on Monday.

David Marshall

On the small chance you've recruited the Scotland international, or were considering it, stay clear. He's conceded 13 goals in just three Premier League games.

Defenders

Who's Hot

Kyle Walker

You need a Spurs defender in your line-up. They've only conceded four league goals so far this season, and although Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out, Pochettino's side should have enough in reserve to shut-out Bournemouth.

Eric Bailly

If Jose Mourinho wants a draw on his return to Chelsea, then he'll probably get one. Eric Bailly has been solid if unspectacular, and if Jose wants another anti-climactic match like he had against Liverpool on Monday then he'll get it.

Who's Not

Virgil van Dijk

Southampton have conceded less than a goal a game so far this Premier League season, but Manchester City is hardly the place to keep that run going.

Gareth McAuley

A popular choice due to his goal threat and cheap price, but managers can't expect West Brom to pick up a clean sheet against a potentially rampant Liverpool, who have also improved at the back recently.

Midfielders

Who's Hot

Joe Allen

He's in great form, Joe Allen. The Welshman has bagged four league goals in his past three games, and Stoke travel to Hull on Saturday, who have conceded a league high of 20 goals so far this season.

Mesut Ozil

The Germany international grabbed a hat-trick in midweek and will be hoping to carry that form into Arsenal's clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Who's Not

Etienne Capoue

The Frenchman certainly rewarded bold managers with four goals in his first five games, but the midfielder iswithout a strike since Watford's win over Manchester United.

Riyad Mahrez

Last season anyone who didn't have Mahrez paid the price and fell away in their collective leagues. The Algerian started on the bench during the Foxes' 3-0 defeat against Chelsea last week and hasn't scored since the opening day.

Strikers

Who's Hot

Romelu Lukaku

The Belgium international has six goals in his last five games, and Burnley is exactly the kind of place Lukaku can expect a chance or two.

Jermain Defoe

The former Spurs striker is due a goal, and West Ham have not been particularly solid at the back this season, despite notching a clean sheet last week at Crystal Palace.

Who's Not

Alvaro Negredo

A lot of managers have Negredo in their teams, but he hasn't contributed a goal or an assist since the second gameweek. Probably best to look elsewhere.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

A bold move, but searching elsewhere could yield more points than sticking with the big Swede. Zlatan looked off the pace against Liverpool on Monday and hasn't scored in his past four games.
