Liverpool have entered into negotiations with Naby Keita over a new contract at the club, according to Calciomercato.

The midfielder, who moved for £52m from RB Leipzig in 2018, has just two years remaining on his current deal.

Liverpool reportedly want to avoid another Gini Wijnaldum situation, which saw the Dutchman leave the club on a free for PSG.

He agreed to join Liverpool in 2017, and completed the move a year later, winning the UEFA Champions League in his first season at the club, and the FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League the following season.

On summer he was targeted by Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
