Prepare for an exciting final stretch to the Ghana Premier League

The matchweek 28 of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), saw six local derbies played at the various league venues, the games became one of the most appealing pairings among football fans, with the match between city rivals Accra Great Olympics and Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium being the most appealing since the league began last year.

Hearts were in no mood for back-to-back defeats to Olympics, who are also in top form and believe they have a fair chance of winning the title as the league enters the final stretch after losing 0-2 to them in the first round, and with their arch rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, close on their heels as they battle for the 2021 league title.

The Accra Sports Stadium was full over the 25% maximum allowed per the Ghana Football Association's COVID-19 Match Day procedures on June 6 as a result of such an event.

The Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium was nearly full for the week 28 local derby between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold.

With five matches remaining in the league, up to eight clubs are competing for the title. This is because, with only 15 points on the line, neither Hearts nor Kotoko have a realistic chance of claiming the title.

The relegation battle between bottom club Inter Allies, King Faisal, Ebusua Dwarfs, Eleven Wonders, and Liberty is becoming more intense with each passing week, just as the struggle for the top is becoming more intense.
