President of the Ghana Football Associations insists there will be more support for women’s football from his outfit following a three day summit held at Cape Coast to help improve the sport in the country.

Women football in Ghana has seen some rise in the past few years with a football league running and an FA Competition fully in session every season.

The female national teams have been one of the best on the continent but Kwesi Nyantakyi who was addressing the Media at the summit in Cape Coast revealed an additional slot will be created for Women at the Executive Committee to talk matters relating to Women’s football.

“On women’s football, we are going to provide more support for women’s football," Nyantakyi told the Media.

"Apart the Sanford FA Cup competition, the GFA is the sole sponsor for women’s football and we will continue to sponsor women’s football at an enhanced level and we want to give more meaning and support to women’s football,” he added.

“To this effect will be proposing to congress to create an additional slot on the Executive Committee exclusively for women even though Miss Linear Addy is the representative of women on the FA Executive Committee, she’s there as a rep of the constituent bodies, so the next time coaches or referees think she has had enough of her tenure, they can ask her to step aside but we think this is an era where we have to encourage women.”

The Black Princesses are on the verge of another World Cup appearances, and the Black Maidens will leave Ghana for Gambia today to start with the World Cup qualifiers.
