Procedure of the Draw: CAF Women’s Champions League, Egypt 2021

The draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2021 will be held in Cairo on the 29th of September 2021 at 5:00 pm local time and will see the 8 participating teams divided into two groups of four teams in accordance with the regulations.

Procedure of the draw

Wadi Degla FC (Egypt) will be pre-assigned to position A1 as hosts.

The 7 other qualified teams are the following:

UNAF: ASFAR FC (Morocco)

WAFU B: Hasaacas FC (Ghana)

WAFU B: Rivers Angels (Nigeria)

WAFU A: AS Mande (Mali)

UNIFFAC: Malabo King’s (Equatorial Guinea)

COSAFA: Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa)

CECAFA: Vihiga Queens FC (Kenya)

Draw constraints:

  • Two teams from the same zone cannot be in the same group.
  • The ball of ASFAR (Morocco) - UNAF, will be in a different color in pot 1. They can only be assigned to Group B since a team from the same zone is in group A (A1).
  • Two representatives of WAFU B (Hasaacas and Rivers Angels) will be in pot 1.
  • The remaining four teams will be in pot 2.

Four 4 pots will be on stage: POT 1, POT 2, POT A, POT B

• The draw will start with Pot 1 by selecting the UNAF team in a different color and a ball will be draw from pot B to determine its position in group B (B1, B2, B3, B4).

• The 2nd Ball drawn from pot 1 will go to group A; a ball will be drawn from pot A to determine the team’s position (A2, A3, A4) in the group. The last ball drawn from pot 1 will go to group B and a ball will be drawn from pot B to determine its position.

• This procedure will be repeated for all teams in Pot 2. Alternating between group A & B respectively.
