Rio De Janeiro: Qatar are primed for their Copa America debut as Felix Sanchez's men put in the final touches for their Group B opener against Paraguay on Sunday.

Based in the coastal town of Porta Belo for the last two weeks, Qatar have been in intense training for their debut in the world's oldest football tournament.

Qatar face Paraguay at the Maracana Stadium followed by Colombia on Thursday and gianst Argentina three days later. Argentina suffered a shock 2-0 loss to Colombia in their opening tie on Saturday.

As part of their buildup, Qatar played a friendly against Brazil, which the South Americans won 2-0, and a practice match against a clubside.

The 23-player Qatar squad will be led by captain Hassan Al Haydos.

Also in the squad is Almoez Ali, who played a pivotal role in Qatar's AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 with a record-breaking nine goals.

Qatar, who will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, are playing as an invited team alongside Japan in the Copa America.

Japan, who are in Group C, will open their campaign against Chile on Monday. Also in their group are Ecuador and Uruguay.
