Quincy Owusu Abeyie recounts his childhood in De Bijlmer

Former Ghana international, Quincy Abeyie, revealed some of his striking memories as a child in De Bijlmer in the Netherlands.

Abeyie featured for the Black Stars in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. He also played for Premier League club Arsenal at a young age.

He is now retired and is pursuing a career as a rapper.

"We got our lunch here," he nods to the tent. 'War fries or a chicken corn. We were always here late. Until I heard my mother shout, "Quincy! Quincy! Home!" ,'' he said in an exclusive interview with VI.

"We were bad boys," he laughs.

"We regularly got into mischief. Ring a bell and all run away, things like that."

 He also revealed that he was a truant in school.

"I wasn't always there, let me put it this way." 

On his attraction to music, he revealed the instrument he loved playing.

"I played the bangi. A wooden instrument, which you hit with iron sticks. That was my thing, man."
