Rangnick issues Leipzig challenge

RB Leipzig head coach Ralf Rangnick says his side will have to give a close to perfect performance if they are to defeat Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal final.

Bayern have already secured the Bundesliga title this season and are hoping to complete a domestic double, while Die Roten Bullen will be playing in their very first DFB-Pokal final, having ended up in third place in the league.

If we are able to perform as close as possible to perfect, then I see us having a rather good outsiders' chance.

And Rangnick has tried to take the pressure off his players by making Bayern the clear favourites to lift the German Cup for the 19th time in their history.

He told the official Bundesliga website: "Bayern are the record Bundesliga champions and record DFB-Pokal winners so they are the clear favourites.

"However, if we are able to perform as close as possible to perfect, then I see us having a rather good outsiders' chance."

Leipzig are 5/2 to lift the trophy on Saturday and are 22/1 to win after extra-time, with Rangnick's team 13/2 to win by a one-goal margin.

Meanwhile, Bayern ace Joshua Kimmich expects Leipzig to be tough to break down at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

He told Sportbuzzer: "Their strength is in their defending. They conceded the fewest goals in the Bundesliga, but we know that when we are at our best we can win.

"I assume we will have more possession and then it depends how much we let RB come into the game."

The two league meetings of the two sides earlier this season produced just a single goal between them.
