Ambitious English second-tier side, Reading are set to complete an audacious move for Ghana talisman Asamoah Gyan.
Reading are leading the race to sign the former Sunderland striker on loan from Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG according to sources close to the club.
Gyan has flown into England to hold talks with interested clubs as he closes in on a move back to the UK after spending two years with Sunderland before moving to the UAE with Al Ain in 2012.
The 30-year-old has found his game time limited at Shanghai SIPG following the arrival of Brazilian striker Hulk at the Chinese Super League club and they are willing to send Gyan out on a season-long loan.
Ghana's all-time leading goalscorer, Gyan has played at three World Cups and helped his country to reach the quarter finals in 2010.
Fulham were understood to be leading the chase for Gyan, but the move has stalled after the club delayed on making a decision on the deal.
Reading are now ready to steal in and try and lure the striker to the Madejski Stadium as Jaap Stam looks to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window.
