Real Madrid Boss Zinedine Zidane 'Angry' After Los Blancos Throw Away Lead Against Dortmund

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted to feeling angry after his side let a 2-0 lead slip and missed the opportunity to top their Champions League group against Borussia Dortmund.

Karim Benzema's brace had put the La Liga leaders in a seemingly comfortable position, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back before Marco Reus' 88th minute equaliser.

And, while the draw did mean that Real have now equalled a club record unbeaten run of 34 games, Zidane expressed his disappointment at the number of wasted chances.

Benzema came close on a couple of occasions to completing a hat-trick, while Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post in the second-half.

"When you see how the second half went you get a bit angry," Zidane said, quoted bySky Sports. "We had the game in our hands but this is football. You need to carry on right to the end.

"There were a lot of chances to score the third goal. Instead, we got Dortmund back into the game. Dortmund deserved first place. They demonstrated how strong they are."

Although clearly unhappy with the result, Zidane did reserve some praise for his players in light of their record breaking achievements so far this campaign.

Real Madrid are unbeaten in 34 consecutive games across all competitions:

"They're a strong side who make life difficult and at the end of the day we needed to be a bit more on it, but it's in the past now. I'm very proud of the players, their hard work, the things they did. The group is probably fair with us second and them first."

Real could potentially face Arsenal or Leicester in the last 16 after Wednesday night's results.
