Real Madrid Chairman Florentino Perez Claims Club are Stronger Than Ever

Real Madrid chairman Florentino Perez has claimed the club'scurrent squad is one of the strongest in its history.


The Bernabeu club have twice broken the transfer record in recent times, splashing out £80m to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 before breaking that record in 2013 to sign Gareth Bale for £85.1m. Along with the likes of Karim Benzema up front, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield and Sergio Ramos and Pepe is defence, Real are one of Europe's strongest sides.


The club also has a number of promising youngsters, with the likes of Marco Asensio and Mariano making strides into the first-team under head coach Zinedine Zidane. The club even boasts the likes of James Rodriguez and Isco as squad players, and Perez has heralded the currentstate of the squad.

"It is one of the most complete and our players already have a place in the heart of madridismo," Perez told attendees at the 2016 General Assembly of Members in Madrid, as quoted byReal's official club website.


"And as we think about the present and the future, we have incorporated a number of players who make us even stronger."


Perez also reserved special praise for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has broken all manner of records during his time with the La Liga giants,and Alvaro Arbeloa, who recently left the club and joined West Ham in the Premier League.


"He's one of the great legends of Real Madrid and one of the greatest in the history of football: Cristiano Ronaldo," Perez continued.

"Cristiano Ronaldo has got 369 goals with our shirt and is a legend of Real Madrid and a legend of football. It has been a fabulous season for him, crowned by winning la Undécima and the European Championship with Portugal, with all madridistas so happy to see Cristiano and Pepe lift the continental title for their country.


"Alvaro Arbeloa has left after many years with us but this will always be his home because he feels and loves this club as much as anyone. Alvaro leaves after 12 years in our club, with the affection of everyone and the Eleventh European Cup.


"We speak of an academy product that symbolises perfectly how you can get to the top through work, companionship, loyalty and team spirit."
