Real Madrid star James Rodriguez insists his future lies at the Bernabeu with his 'idol' Zinedine Zidane after helping his side to a comfortable 2-0 victory at Espanyol on Sunday, theDaily Mailreports.

The Colombia international, 25, had been the subject of intense transfer speculation during the summer transferwindow after finding himself on the bench for large parts of Zidane's tenure.

But with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale both missing through injury, the Frenchman turned to the 25-year-old, who repaid that faith with a stunning opening goal to help Real on their way to three points and a record equalling16th La Liga win.

And James is adamant his future remains with the current Champions League holders, despite interest from the Premier League.

"Zidane is my idol," the former Monaco midfielder said. "Real Madrid is my dream. I hope it lasts much more time.

"My family and I are very happy in Madrid and in the team. I will fight to stay here forever."

The 25-year-old has also rubbished reports of his unhappiness at the club, with some media outlets speculating over a possible feud between the Colombian and the Real hierarchy.

"It's not true that I've had a bad time. Me not speaking [to the public] doesn't mean I have a bad relationship with anyone.

"We are united as a team and everyone has supported me here since the first day. We want more wins and more records.

"I understand the coach's decisions. He knows I always want to help the team, not just with goals and assists."
