Real Madrid president Perez considers U-turn over Benzema sale plans

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is weighing up sacrificing Karim Benzema this summer.

Perez has spoken openly of his admiration for the striker, insisting he'd be happy if the Frenchman played out his career in Madrid.

However, Diario Gol says Real's pursuit of AS Monaco whizkid Kylian Mbappe has forced a rethink from the president.

Mbappe will only consider moving to Madrid if he can see the opportunity of regular first team football and even with the sale of Alvaro Morata, the youngster would still find himself spending much of his time on the bench.

However, that would change if Benzema was also sold - a prospect that Perez is now seriously considering.

For much of this season, the president has been urged by fellow directors to cash in on Benzema as this summer is viewed as the last best chance of generating a hefty fee for the player.

And with the factor of Mbappe emerging, Perez is now leaning towards selling the experienced forward to make room.
