Real Madrid star dismisses talk of Juventus switch

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has poured cold water on reports that he could follow Cristiano Ronaldo from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to Juventus.

The Brazil international appeared to be on Juventus’ radar over the summer as they looked to bolster their options at full-back, and rumours have persisted that he will make the switch to Serie A.

However, the 30-year-old sought to address his future on Thursday and insisted that he had no intention of leaving Real Madrid.

“I am very happy in Madrid, and people know that I feel at home here and that I still have many more years on my contract at the greatest club in the world,” Marcelo told Real Madrid TV.

“It is good to tackle this issue because there have been so many rumours about my future. I want to stay here and give my all for Real Madrid, to make the fans happy and continue to show that I deserve to wear this shirt.

“There have been rumours about Juventus, mainly on social media, there are people of influence who have spread falsehoods. I want to stay here as long as possible and have the enthusiasm of an 18-year-old.”

Marcelo has scored 33 goals in 456 appearances for Los Merengues since arriving from Fluminense in 2007, and has gone on to win four La Liga titles and as many Champions League trophies.
