Rennes chasing Real Valladolid star Mohammed Salisu

RMC Sport and Manu Lonjon claim that Ligue 1 side Rennes is in intensive talks with the Spanish side Real Valladolid to sign the left-footed 21-year-old Ghanaian central defender Mohammed Salisu who is also been tracked by Manchester United.

Salisu has played 28 matches in La Liga so far this season and is a target of incoming Sporting Director Florian Maurice.

The French club will have to activate the player’s €12m release clause if they want to sign a man who ticks a lot of the boxes of the profile that they are looking for in this position: left-footer, physical presence, and strong mentality.

While French clubs have triggered their summer window plans, Spanish sides have not even started looking into their transferring activity, with La Liga starting up again next month.

Atletico Madrid also wants to sign the defender. Valladolid on the other hand wants to wait while Rennes will like to accelerate the process.

Manu Lonjon reports that Rennes have even agreed on provisional terms with the defender, but are still to negotiate the fee.

Several French media outlets have revealed on Sunday that the central defender was in talks with Stade Rennais. Yes, but there it is. Rennes is not the only one involved.

Brighton is also working to sign the former Áfrican Talent Football Academy player. The English club has also started concrete discussions with GRUPO JM10 SPORT SL, the player’s representative, to try to convince him.

The €12 million release clause Valladolid has set will not be a problem for the Seagulls either.
