The 23-year-old joined the team in August 2015 during the early years of ASPIRE’s ownership. The group is made up of Qatari owners who gave Ocansey the chance to shine at the club.

But, after four years, the Ghanaian moved on to KV Kortrijk, his current club, for an undisclosed fee. He was part of a core group of African players which included Henry Onyekuru of Nigeria among others.

In recent years, the African core have diminished. Also, Ivan Bravo, a member of the board on Eupen, is withdrawing from his role. He was a representative for ASPIRE. His exit shows the diminishing influence of the Qatari owners on the club.

It also shows that the club is moving in a new direction. Ocansey is yet to feature for the Black Stars. This season, he has scored once for his current club in 31 league matches.
