The government of Ghana is said to be planning to set up a commission of enquiry into the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, footballghana.com checks have revealed.

The Black Stars despite being given the needed support to succeed at this year’s continental showdown failed to impress and got knockout of the tournament at the round of 16 stage.

After emerging as leaders of Group F ahead of defending champions Cameroon at the end of the preliminary stage, Ghana suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia who emerged as 5-4 winners on penalties at the end of a round of 16 tie.

Information gathered by footballghana.com has revealed that government is gutted by the poor display of the national team and will set up a commission of enquiry to find out what contributed to the disappointing campaign.

Other issues that will be looked into will include what motivated the idea of airlifting supporters and journalist to Egypt for the tournament.

According to checks, the members of the committee will be announced very soon.
