REVEALED: Thomas Partey was Unai Emery’s main transfer target in the summer

According to confirmed reports in the UK, Ghanaian international Thomas Teye Partey was former Arsenal manager Unai Emery’s main transfer target in the summer transfer window.

The Atletico Madrid star man has been outstanding for his club in the last couple of years where he has impressed in the Spanish La Liga as well as in the European competitions.

Prior to his second season at Arsenal, Gunners boss Unai Emery reportedly summited three names of players he wanted the board to recruit for him.

Leading the list was Thomas Partey followed by Harry Maguire and Wilfried Zaha.

The request was however rejected with the club subsequently venturing into the transfer market to splash £130 million on Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney, David Luiz, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba instead.

The signings of those players are yet to show the expected results following the sacking of Unai Emery last month.

The club continues to struggle as the speculation of Thomas Partey being needed at Arsenal continuing ahead of the January transfer window.
