Richard Mpong sad to be leaving Aduana Stars

Released Aduana Stars midfielder Richard Mpong has revealed his disappointment at leaving the club after he was refused contract extension.

The former Medeama and Kumasi Asante Kotoko winger was released by the club after struggling to break into the team last season.

With his place taken by Zakaria Mumuni, the winger who joined Aduana two seasons ago was regarded as a marquee signing but failed to live to up expectations.

The 25 year old said he felt he was been pushed out of the team when there were times he should have played but his position was filled by a defender.

“If I’m part of the team that qualified Aduana Stars for Africa and it’s about players giving out their best, then I shouldn’t have been left out” he said on Metro FM.

“Football is about form and Sam Adams is in the form of his life but when Sam Adams wasn’t available and it was time for me to play, the coaches tried to push defenders there to play instead of me” he added.

Aduana Stars will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season after winning the Premier League last season.
