Richard Ofori admits it was difficult to leave Maritzburg Utd to join Pirates

Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Ofori has admitted that taking the decision to switch camps from Maritzburg United to Orlando Pirates was difficult.

The highly-rated shot-stopper has in the past couple of years established himself as one of the best in his position in the South African top-flight league.

Ahead of the 2020/2021 football season, Richard Ofori has been signed by Orlando Pirates where he is set to compete with other top goalkeepers for the starting role.

Opening up on his move to the new club, the Black Stars' top goalkeeper has noted that it was difficult in deciding to part ways with his former employers, Maritzburg United.

Meanwhile, Ofori has revealed that he is feeling at home at Pirates with his new teammates welcoming him with open arms.

“Training has been good. I have been welcomed in the team with open arms by everybody here which has been great. Everyone here is very friendly. The organization and professionalism have been of international standard”, he said.

Richard Ofori continued, “As for training, well what I can say is that the intensity is very high, but I am adapting well. I’m also getting accustomed to a different methodology of training under the goalkeeper coach Jyri [Nieminen] which has been good”.

On the opening weekend of the DStv Premiership, Ofori and his Orlando Pirates side will face of with AmaZulu.
