The Gunners have recorded seven successive victories in all competitions, and lie joint-first in the standings after only tasting one league defeat so far this term.

Arsenal have become notorious for throwing away potential Premier League triumphs in recent seasons.

The Gunners topped the table for much of the 2007/08 season, only to implode after drawing to relegation-threatened Birmingham City, were in the hunt to win the league in 2013/14 before being thrashed 5-1 away to Liverpool and came up short to 5000-1 rank outsiders Leicester City in 2015/16.

Despite their good form, Keane remains unconvinced by Arsene Wenger's men and, in quotes attributed to the Manchester United legend after Arsenal's 6-0 thrashing of FC Ludogorets on Wednesday, stated that the Emirates-based side needed to remain consistent throughout the 2016/17 campaign if they wanted to be taken seriously by pundits and other title challengers.

He said: "The problem is there is a question mark over most of these Arsenal players because we've seen it before. They start the season well but it is over the winter months when the big crunch games come up.

They are on fire at the moment. But like Roy Keane says, dont get excited about Arsenal 😂😂😂😂.

It is not a criticism of the player because that's what they've done before. History will tell us they'll come up short.

But I do think these Arsenal players look a touch stronger and [have] a bit more quality in depth.

Keane also commented on the futures of star pair Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, and said he believed that it was vital that Arsenal keep hold of the world-class duo if they harboured ambitions of winning silverware over the course of the next couple of seasons.

He added: Trying to get Mesut Ozil signed up is vital for the club. I think what will help him will be winning trophies “ and the big trophies like the Champions League and the Premier League.

They look a bit short. But Arsenal, as a club to go onto the next level over the next few years, have to haveOzil and Sanchez signed up.
