Former Hearts of Oak striker Sadat Karim has joined Greek club Apollon Smyrnis in the ongoing January transfer window.

Sadat Karim completed his free transfer to Apollon Smyrnis on Saturday, signing a one-and-a-half year deal after passing his medical. Following the end of his contract, the 31-year-old left Swedish Superettan team Halmstads BK to continue his career in Greece.

Karim joined Halmstads in January 2019 and went on to make 126 appearances, scoring 24 goals and providing 21 assists.

Since leaving Ghana for Sweden in July 2013, he has played for Swedish clubs such as BW 90 IF, Landskrona, and Prespa Birlik. Apollon Smyrnis was demoted from Greece's top flight at the end of the 2021-22 season and is hoping to return after the 2022-23 season ends.

They are presently third in the Greek second-tier league, with 20 points from 9 games. Smyrnis played goalless with PAE Egaleo in their last league game. Apollon Smyrnis will take on strugglers PAO Rouf in their next game in the Greek Super League 2.
