West Brom striker Salomon Rondon has claimed that the weather in the West Midlands is colder than that of Russia.

Rondon sampled the brutal weather of Russia during spells at Rubin Kazan and Zenit Saint Petersburg during his time in the Russian Premier League, but has claimed that it is colder in the Black Country than in his previous place of residence, while also praising England's culture of politeness.

It's my opinion, but it's colder in West Bromwich than Russia. When it snows over there, it's cold. But it's not so wet “ and I like the snow," Rondon told theDaily Mirror.

Here, I like the quality of life and the calmness. People respect you “ if you are in a restaurant, people will wait until you have finished before taking a picture.

In other countries, you can be eating and they ask you to smile while they take one.

Rondon scored nine Premier League goals in 34 appearances during his first season with West Brom last season, and the Venezuela international also spoke of the influence former Manchester United and Netherlands striker Ruud van Nistelrooy had during their time together at La Liga club Malaga.

I saw a lot of Ruud at Malaga. He taught me a lot about movement and finishing. Pellegrini was also important to my career.

While Rondon didn't reach double figures for league goals during his debut season, Baggies boss Tony Pulis has no doubt that the 27-year-old will make inroads on the Premier League soon enough.

He's more relaxed now, he feels much more part of the set-up “ and he's a really good player.
