Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has officially joined Sevilla on a season-long loan, bringing a run of eight consecutive years spent in the Premier League to an end.

Nasri made his first appearance of the season on Sunday and impressed off the bench as City secured a 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the Frenchman was not considered part of Pep Guardiola's longer term plans for the rest of the campaign and has become the third City player to leave on loan on transfer deadline day, following Joe Hart and Wilfried Bony out of the doorafter their moves to Torino and Stoke respectively.

A statement from City read, "From everyone at the club, good luck in Spain, Samir!"

@ManCity it's been a pleassure thanks to everyone in the club and the fans for the 5 amazing years and wish you best of luck for the season

Nasri was a £25m signing from Arsenal in the summer of 2011. Having joined the Gunners from Marseille at the age of just 21, the player had impressed in north London and scored 15 goals in all competitions during the 2010/11 campaign, prompting the move to Manchester.

He was an immediate regular for City, collecting a Premier League winner's medal at the first time of asking. Nasri played less often the following season but was then back to his best in 2013/14 as City won a second title in the space of three years.

Injury has unfortunately restricted him in the time since and he managed just seven league appearances last season as a result of a long-term thigh problem.
