Sarri, 60, has been battling the flu, with his assistants overseeing Juventus' practice ahead of their Serie A season opener against Parma on Saturday.

"Maurizio Sarri, after having observed rest over the weekend, was at the JTC Continassa today where he coordinated the work of his staff. Unfortunately, he could not conduct the training on the field due to the persistence of his flu, which struck him over the course of last week," the club revealed in a statement.

Juventus did not state Sarri's status for the Parma game, his first in charge of the defending Italian champions since leaving Chelsea this summer.

Juventus' second match of the season will be against Napoli, where Sarri managed from 2015-18.
