German club, Schalke O4 has appointed former Ghanaian international Charles Takyi to act in an assistant capacity to their u-19 team.

He has been making efforts to complete his coaching badges and has now earned an assistant job at the u-19 team of Schalke O4.

Now 34 years old, the Ghanaian will replace Morten Möllers and will be assisting experienced coach Norbert Elgert.

Speaking in an interview after the appointment of Charles Takyi, Coach Norbert Elgert expressed confidence in his abilities and has shared that it will be good for him to start his coaching career with the club.

“Morten Möllers has done a great job here for years, but we also trust Charles 100%. He has been with us for a few months. Therefore, getting started is easier for him than if he had come to us fresh” Norbert Elgert said.

Charles Takyi is a formal player of Schalke 04, Hamburg Gruether Furth and St. Pauli.

He also had spells in Denmark as well as in the United Arab Emirates.
