Hearts of Oak deputy captain Owusu Bempah has admitted things did not go as planned for the side in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season.

The Phobians finished 3rd with 48 points, winning twelve matches, drawing twelve and losing six.

After their fine first round performance they parted company with Japanese-American tactician Kenichi Yatshuhatshi. Portuguese manager, Sergio Traguil was brought in, but things didn’t turn out as expected.

Assistant coach Yaw Preko was asked to oversee their last three games of the season which he recorded two wins out of three.

“This season have been very difficult because when it comes to the Ghana Premier League, you always expect the big clubs to dominates but it wasn’t so this season,” said Owusu Bempa in an interview with Kumasi based radio station Nhyira FM

“We had a target from the start of the season but are not disappointed we couldn’t archive our target. It is not bad being at the 3rd position because you will not always have a consistent season because there will be fatigue among the players and injuries but we will go back to the drawing board and prepare very well and come back stronger next season.

The contract of the contact of Owusu Bempah has come to an end but quizzed if he will leave the club, he said, “I know my contract has come to an end but I am not in rush to leave the club but if a better offer comes and the club accepts it, I will leave but as it stands I am not prepared to leave.
