We will put aside sentiments when appointing the next Black Stars coach, says Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communication Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara.
Black Stars coach Avram Grant parted ways just two days after the end of this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon following a two-year spell.
The nation’s football governing body have indicated that they are searching for his successor before the country’s next competitive match which will apparently come off in mid-March.
Nevertheless, the FA spokesman has stressed that the association will not attach sentiments when choosing their next man to take up the Black Stars rein.
Speaking to Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Sannie Daara said, “Irrespective of where the person is coming from, once he is competent he’s good to go.”
“Whether he’s a local or foreign coach, the bottom line is that the person must be competent. We cannot attach our personal feelings into this and say we should at all cost bring in a Ghanaian coach, whereby the person will not be up to the task.”
“However, I think that there’re some Ghanaian coaches when given the opportunity can do the job adequately.”
