Serie A Team of the Week | Round 3

Published on: 03 September 2018

Juventus are alone at the top of Serie A, with Napoli losing to Sampdoria, and Roma falling victim to a last gasp AC Milan goal.

Inter got their first win of the season, Fiorentina won their second in a row, and Sassuolo remain unbeaten bagging five in a great win over Genoa.

Our Team of the Week will see a 3-4-3 formation deployed. Let us know your thoughts!

Salvatore Sirigu – Torino
Celebrated being called up to the National team with a couple of great saves to keep the clean sheet and help the Granata to the three points.

Pol Lirola – Sassuolo
A constant machine down the right flank, giving nightmares to Domenico Criscito, tracking back perfectly and pouring the icing on the cake with the most important goal of Sassuolo’s game.

Nicolas N’Koulou – Torino
Not only was he perfect at the back, guiding the back line and defending solidly, but he also got the winner to get all three points.

Ricardo Rodriguez – AC Milan
Ok, those who attack on his side – Rick Karsdorp, Patrick Schick and Javier Pastore – weren’t exactly on top form, but he did his job defensively and served the assist for Franck Kessie’s opener.

Radja Nainggolan – Inter
This is the reason why he was bought: to do what the great players do, win games. He broke the deadlock when it seemed Inter were unable to. Goal on his debut. Ninja.

Lucas Biglia – AC Milan
It could have been one of the toughest nights for someone like him, against the physicality of the Roma midfield. Instead, he directed Milan’s play from deep, pulling the strings of the whole team, consistently.

Nicolò Barella – Cagliari
Crucial goal in the away win at Atalanta, as well as demolishing one of the physically strongest midfields of the league with pace and with quality.

Federico Chiesa – Fiorentina
The chipped assist to give Marco Benassi the chance to smash it home is pure class. The massive work rate and usual perseverance did the rest.

Kevin Prince Boateng – Sassuolo
What a return to Serie A! The equaliser, for his second goal in three games, and the exquisite bicycle kick that lead to Sassuolo’s second. He’s back.

Gregoire Defrel – Sampdoria
A wonder strike to break the deadlock, then the second to kill off Napoli. What a night for him.

Fabio Quagliarella – Sampdoria
Scored the goal of the season. Of the year. Potentially of the century.
